SymmetriSleep

Revolutionizing 24-Hour Postural Care.

Launched in 1996 and proudly manufactured in the UK, our pioneering positioning system is revolutionizing the way we address sleep and lying therapy needs. The SymmetriSleep® system tackles crucial issues including Posture, Pressure, Microclimate, and Contracture with unparalleled precision.

Revolutionizing 24-hour postural care.

SymmetriSleep® is transforming the lives of individuals with movement challenges by teaching them to lie straight, ultimately preventing or correcting body shape distortions. Embraced by therapists, SymmetriSleep® is a crucial component of a comprehensive 24-Hour Postural Care Programme. This system offers a gentle, progressive approach to managing complex postural issues, allowing elements to be introduced gradually both day and night as tolerance builds. This support is crucial for relaxation, body shape improvement, and easier care. By facilitating a gentle progressive approach to complex issues when the body is most relaxed and susceptible to change, it protects and improves body shape and function.

Components

What is SymmetriSleep?

SymmetriSleep® is a versatile system featuring custom-designed cushions, brackets, and a pressure-distributing Airmantle layer, all available with Coolover® cover sheets for tailored support. It adapts to various lying positions—prone, supine, side, and semi-side—and is compatible with beds, cots, double beds, profiling beds, and pressure-relieving mattresses.

Velcro Grid Sheet

Forms the foundation of the system, creating a stable base for the other components.

Microclimate-Managing Airmantle

A specialized support layer designed to enhance comfort and protection during sleep. Unlike traditional materials like hollow fibre wadding or foams, the Airmantle offers temperature regulation and microclimate management.

Stretchy Sheet

Covers the Airmantle, providing a smooth and adaptable surface. Once these components are in place, the bed has a flat surface, making it easier for the user to transfer in and out.

Brackets and Pillows

These support elements are added when the user is ready. The system is built around the client’s needs, rather than forcing the client to conform to a pre-existing shape. The brackets are intuitive to fit, requiring no complex setup. Many prefer to adjust them once the user is asleep.

Revolutionary CoolOver® Fabric

CoolOver® is a high-performance, temperature-regulating fabric designed to enhance thermal comfort and improve sleep quality.

Benefits

Unique benefits of SymmetriSleep.

  • Bio-mechanical Precision: SymmetriSleep® is the first system designed to apply the necessary bio-mechanical rotational forces to improve chest shape and counteract rotation gently.
  • Adjustable and Comfortable: Providing support for those with limited mobility, SymmetriSleep® ensures family members and carers experience fewer disturbances. The improved comfort reduces abnormal muscle tone, leading to more restful nights and better mornings.
  • Microclimate Management: Our specially designed fabrics minimize pressure points, reduce skin humidity, and provide active temperature regulation, ensuring maximum comfort.
  • Maintains Body Symmetry: The system helps preserve body symmetry and protects joints from the damaging effects of gravity.
  • Infinitely Adjustable: Suitable for any position, shape, or age, SymmetriSleep® is easy to fit and adjust. The system can be tailored to various needs and can adapt as clients grow or their conditions change.

CoolOver

Active microclimate management.

All cushion components can be covered with CoolOver® a high performance, temperature-regulating fabric designed to enhance thermal comfort and improve sleep quality. Unique to Helping Hand, this fabric actively regulates skin temperature to 91.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Our use of denier gradient technology takes moisture away from the skin helping manage microclimate – temperature and moisture. Wash up to 167 degrees Fahrenheit.

Testimonials

What people say.

"The SymmetriSleep® system was essential in supporting the early postural management of our complex young patient. Prior to being in place, the patient had poor trunk and hip alignment and was being managed by multiple cushions which didn't provide adequate positioning to meet his needs. Once set up, his alignment improved significantly and his sleep wake cycle also improved as a consequence as he was more comfortable and supported. The Helping Hand team were responsive and informative when demonstrating and upskilling the team to use the system and providing advice on any additional accessories required. All equipment meets hospital inflection control regulations which makes it an essential piece of equipment to support patients early on in the acute setting."
