When I was 11 years old, I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, an inflammation of the spinal cord. It all happened suddenly. By that time, I have never had health problems and from one day to the other, I was in a wheelchair paralysed from the chest down.
I’m a passionate about fashion and makeup and could spend hours leafing through a magazine, watching videos or shopping. In 2015, I fulfilled a dream when I became the first Spanish model in a wheelchair who walked down the New York Fashion Week catwalk.
I dream about making a living of something I have built with my effort, something that motivates others. And I’m inspired by those who overcome themselves, who wake up everyday and take risks for what they want. I love to read inspirational stories about people who have reached everything from a starting point of nothing.
Life does not end when you sit in a wheelchair, it becomes a new one. It's an opportunity to overcome your limits every day. Looking back and seeing what you got over is amazing!
