"Basketball is an extremely physical sport, it demands a lot from your body."
I can’t imagine a life without sport. I started gymnastics when I was three years old. And there was never a week without sport. So when I broke my back I just had to find a new sport that ‘fitted’ me.
I first started playing Basketball at the Center for Physical Rehabilitation, that's where I was being treated after my injury. Basketball was really 'love at first play' for me!"
With the national team we have a mixture of very young, new players and more experienced players which keeps it very interesting. I love to see them getting better and better every day and I think as a team we haven’t reached our best level yet.
I was born on the 10th of May 1980. Growing up I participated in gymnastics. After an unfortunate fall in 1999 I broke my back.
After finding myself in a wheelchair, I started looking around for a new type of sports activity.
I started basketball with SC Antilope in Utrecht. It was hard to be a beginner again, but that didn’t stop me. After 20 years I still love playing basketball. I now play with Sunrise Medical Braves in Doorn.
