The benefits of temperature control
Skin temperature is important to your well-being and can help avoid skin breakdown, yet is often challenging to manage. Users with Spinal Cord injuries (SCI) as well as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients often have difficulty regulating their own body temperature, especially those who suffer from temperature dysregulation and therefore cannot fully adjust their body temperature under different environmental conditions. For years several clinical studies worldwide have been concerned with temperature control issues and the fact that cooling systems have proven to be beneficial in their various forms. The JAY J3 TC is the first and only wheelchair back that's designed to help manage your own microclimate with its integrated thermal and evaporative cooling technology.
Heat up
At the flip of a switch, the patented heating system will use heating coils to generate heat to warm throughout the back. Unlike others, this heating system has been specially designed for wheelchair users. It's also equipped with an automatic shut-off to prevent the temperature from rising above 40 °C.
Cool down
The cooling system consists of a ventilation insert where small fans are incorporated. Once the cooling function is activated, the air starts circulating from the back of the backrest to the front and is transported out of the backrest front through the ventilation bladder. In addition, the JAY J3 TC Back cover optimizes airflow through the use of specialized fabrics and specially designed vents. The porous 3DX™ Spacer Fabric promotes airflow through the cushion to the TC insert. This microclimate cover is made of a quick drying fabric that helps to reduce heat and moisture build-up.
